Villages moving ahead

Development Aid must be done with dignity and in a lasting way. Hence it must start at the base. And that base is the village.

Development Aid , as a matter of fact, has only a chance to success if the villagers are included in the development process.
And this means : Identification of the issues, determine the priorities, search together for a solution.
Briefly, the village as a community is the key player while working out the solutions and thus also for the realisation of the projects.

Because we firmly believe that no one can accomplish the well-being of another without this persons co-operation, whether this « other » is a person or a community.

From a practical point of view, a project consists of the following steps :

 Step1:

If a certain project is experienced as urgent and the local community opens the door for co-operation, then, first of all,  the community and its external parter get acquainted with each other.

Step2:

Next, in dialogue with the different layers of the population, a diagnosis is performed of the general situation of the village community. This diagnosis will allow, on one hand, to estimate the strong points of the community,  granting the opportunity to grasp real chances for development ; on the other hand it also allows to detect the weaknesses, which restrict the the perspectives of the community.

Step3:

Only from this moment on, a support program, being a coherent package of interrelated projects,  will be defined and started up. This program will be planned and executed in the medium term , with the application of progress indicators.

Step4:

Finally the progress will lead to an autonomous process, thanks to a decreasing program of training and support. The final purpose is the  departure of the external partner, once the local community is capable to perform the further actions without external help.

A next village can then benefit from this approach, with  moreover the previous village as a development model.
